Songs of Sea
GLOU'S ROLE: technical manager
Opened in March 2007, the Songs of the Sea replaces the Sentosa Musical Fountain with its laser lights, water jets, fire jets and music. The $30m entertainment was created by world-renowned and internationally acclaimed Yves Pepin who also designed the nightly show at DisneySea Tokyo.
With the beach and the sea as part of the stage for the show, Songs of the Sea is a story of a young man with a beautiful voice who is charmed by a sleeping princess. The audience is treated to a unique experience where the laser lights, fireworks, water jets and fire jets are intricately woven into the story.
Songs of the Sea uses a specially built kelong (which means fishing village in Malay), which is able to take rough weather conditions such as strong winds, waves and high tides, from which the fire and water spouts. Combined with computer images reflected off large water screens, the show is certainly colourful, mesmerising and fascinating to watch.
